The company Adoc Talent Management is recruiting a Researcher in Life Cycle Management for its client, a mission-oriented Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment, and IT. They develop competitive and market-oriented product/service prototypes for public and private actors and work along the whole innovation chain: from basic/applied research to incubation and technology transfer. Your Role Our client is looking for a researcher in life cycle management to address the major environmental challenges faced by society today. As part of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) Department, the mission is to conduct impact-driven scientific research, and technological innovation, and provide support to companies and governments in implementing sustainable policies and environmental regulations. As a researcher in Life Cycle Management, you will contribute to the client's objectives by conducting impactful research, supporting companies in implementing sustainable practices, advising governments on sustainable policies, developing sustainability assessment methodologies, and driving behavioural change towards decarbonization transitions. Your expertise will play a vital role in addressing environmental challenges and fostering a more sustainable future. Your key activities include: Working on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and process modelling and simulation in European and national projects. In the BEST project, you will support the development of an efficient, flexible, and transparent LCA model incorporating future scenarios for bioenergy deployment, for prospective sustainability assessment of energy systems. In the CALIMERO project, you will contribute to the benchmarking, modelling, and optimization of industrial processes in the textile, construction and/or pulp and paper sectors from an LCA perspective. You will work on the development of the LCA methodology, e.g. in the definition of new characterisation factors to assess the toxicity of chemicals and materials or of indicators to assess circular systems. Profile You are a recent PhD graduate in environmental sciences or engineering with expertise in life cycle assessment (with possibly 1 or 2 years preferably from an academic background). Previous research experience in Life Cycle Assessment is essential for this position. Accordingly, you should possess a good knowledge of LCA software, such as SimaPro, GaBi, or OpenLCA, and be familiar with Brightway2. Although not essential, knowledge of industrial process modelling and evaluation would be an advantage. Previous experience in EU-funded projects would be beneficial, although this is not a strict requirement. The successful candidate will have proven organisational skills and demonstrate interdisciplinary thinking and a problem-solving mindset. Strong teamwork skills are essential, but you must also be able to work independently and creatively. A perfect command of both spoken and written English is essential for this role. Knowledge of Luxembourgish, French and/or German would be considered an asset to your application.
