THE OPPORTUNITY We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer for our Partners team in Brazil! As a backend engineer in our check-in and booking squad, you will be responsible for developing highly scalable services making sure that best practices of modern web development are followed. This squad is responsible for all the services that allow our subscribers to book classes through the Gympass app and to check in at all types of partners.You will have plenty of opportunities to take part in architectural decisions, suggest improvements, and interact with the product team and other business stakeholders in a highly collaborative agile environment. YOUR IMPACT As a senior developer over time, you are expected to be able to design from scratch highly scalable systems, deliver well with no guidance, become an expert in the business rules and architecture of our complex environment, and mentor less experienced developers. Build scalable, maintainable architectures, and write clean and readable code. Ensure successful delivery of projects, and promote the long-term technical health of our services. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and stability. Build Integration with 3rd party API and tools. Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Bring expertise in architecture and design process. Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands. Create new services and capabilities to meet emerging needs as our business grows. Exert technical influence over other engineers, by sharing his experience and knowledge. WHO YOU ARE You are a passionate developer who is driven by getting things done with high quality while in a timely manner. You are accountable for your decisions and possess a high level of ownership over the products you are delivering. You feel frustrated when things go wrong and take proactive actions to prevent the next failure from happening. You are a data-driven person, who asks for data to support product decisions before blindly implementing things. You try to simplify the scope of what you are developing constantly. You are bold and innovative. You are eager to learn and to share knowledge and to continuously improve your toolset of technical, business, and communication skills in order to provide more and more impact to the company. You are able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders including verbal and written in English and Portuguese. You have experience building highly scalable and fault-tolerant microservices. You are an experienced backend developer with at least two different programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, or Go, also you are familiar with the Spring Framework ecosystem. Versed in concepts such as DDD, SOLID, Design Patterns distributed systems, and architecture. Capable of understanding pitfalls and anticipating common failure modes of a microservice environment. Experience with cloud, deployments, and monitoring. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience. Experienced with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls. Experienced dealing with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as RabbitMQ, KAFKA, ActiveMQ, etc., and an in-depth understanding of their use cases and pitfalls.
