We make the world better, and you can too.Technical Thought Leader Job location: This position is to be hired in Canada or USA and will be remote unless you live in the Ottawa, Canada area in which the role will be hybrid. About the team Reporting to the VP of Industry Outreach and Thought Leadership, a Technical Thought Leader is responsible for positioning Kinaxis as a leader in supply chain and analytics, particularly for more technical audiences. S/he will identify relevant trends and market inflection points, evangelize externally in both writing and speaking, drive a technical vision internally, and engage key customers, partners, as well as industry and academic experts. S/he may also research and explore technical concepts that could accelerate future potential product opportunities and drive competitive advantage for Kinaxis. Working closely with relevant forums within the supply chain, industry and analytics communities, this thought leader will stay abreast of current and future opportunities for Kinaxis. Partnering with peers, s/he will share responsibility for representing our credibility by serving as a recognized expert with deep technical expertise in one or more areas of supply chain science (e.g. machine learning, optimization, forecasting), in order to translate the dynamics of supply chain within that field. This person will also be an interface with academic communities, staying abreast of technical research areas relevant to Kinaxis, developing and delivering course materials, and contributing to academic research. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing external views into Kinaxis, while positioning Kinaxis as a leader with technical leaders and others in supply chain and beyond. What you will do Represent Kinaxis publicly as a recognized content expert in supply chain and analytics, including responding to press inquiries, with the ability to translate seamlessly between technical and business audiences. Give innovative and thought-provoking presentations and participate in panels at leading industry events focused on supply chain and analytics. Write thought leadership pieces in the form of articles, blogs, white papers, social media posts, etc. on topics related to supply chain and analytics. Curate and synthesize external perspectives to bring into Kinaxis by encouraging and promoting peer-to-peer networking within the professional community of supply chain and analytics, relevant technically-focused forums, and other industry associations. Actively participate in relevant research communities within academia and beyond to keep topic area knowledge current and share experiences both internally and externally to influence company direction, especially related to product or services. Explore algorithms with particular relevance to Kinaxis, and where needed collaborate with academic research partners and prototype to demonstrate viability for our solutions. Consult at a credible peer level with key stakeholders and executives. Coordinate other internal technical employees who can contribute to our leadership in this area by writing or presenting from their expertise. Contribute to academic research with publications (up to 10% of time). What we are looking for Bachelor’s degree in related field (math, operations research, statistics, machine learning); advanced degrees strongly preferred 10-15 years’ experience, preferably with some experience working as a practitioner Recognition as an expert in supply chain management and analytics Strong writing skills and experience communicating messages for external audiences Programming skills in R, Python, Javascript preferred to prototype ideas Excellent presentation skills to audiences large and small Experience and skill using social media to communicate ideas. Ability to take a position, based on facts, and support that position, both externally and internally, with clear analysis. Outstanding communication and reflective listening skills and the ability to adjust message as needed. Ability to work as an individual contributor with limited administrative support When feasible, ability to travel up to 50% of the time, within North America as well as internationally.
